There's nothing wrong with learning in a classroom environment over the course of a day, but what if you had the time to really delve into the subject you were interested in? What if you could take the time to really explore a topic and really allow yourself to be immersed in it, alongside like minded people? And what if you could do all of that whilst sitting amongst beautiful, peaceful countryside, in amongst nature, in luxurious accommodation?
Welcome to our residential workshop retreats
What is a residential workshop retreat?
Our residential workshop retreats combine the same high quality, fun and experiential training as our workshops, but in a relaxed, five star environment over the course of a weekend. This means the training can be more in depth, with more time for shared experiences and some one to one work included.
The residential workshop retreats are split into group discussions, activities, individual one to one sessions, as well as down time to relax, process the information you're learning, reflect on your own experiences and be able to discuss these in a safe environment, all while in the most beautiful setting. The cost covers all the course materials and training, overnight accommodation and all meals. All you need to add is your overnight bag.
Understanding Anxiety and Depression
20th - 23rd March 2020
About the workshop
Anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental health conditions in the UK, with a recent survey suggesting that there are around 6 million people suffering with anxiety, depression or a mixture of both. The impact of anxiety and depression is widespread, affecting mental and physical health, relationships, social interaction, employability or work status, and quality of life. For those struggling with these conditions, it can be a daily struggle.
This weekend workshop (Friday - Monday morning) is led by a fully qualified and experienced psychotherapist and is designed to look at:
What anxiety and depression are, what the causes are and how it impacts on us, our lives and the people around us
What are the factors that affect anxiety and depression - why it isn't a simple case of there being a single cause
The neuroscience behind anxiety and depression - what is happening in our brains and bodies when anxiety and depression are present
Affect regulation with anxiety and depression - what our bodies are telling us and how to respond and manage our tolerance levels
Ways in which we can manage anxiety and depression
Looking at a holistic approach - our physical health, thoughts, feelings, emotions behaviours, environment and support structure, and how they all play a part.
There will be a consultation by telephone before the weekend to discuss what you're hoping to gain from the weekend, and what you might need to get the most out of it. During the weekend there will be group discussions, exercises to carry out as a group, in pairs or as individuals, time to reflect on your own relationship with anxiety or depression, as well as one to time with a qualified therapist to look at your own specific journey. There will be periods of downtime in between, which you can spend in the venue, or exploring the local areas.
This residential workshop retreat is being held at Broadstone Barns, just outside the peaceful village of Ticknall, Derbyshire. Enjoy the panoramic views over the Derbyshire countryside, take a walk through the neighbouring woods, down to Staunton Harold reservoir (visible from your accommodation) or maybe down past the deer park to Calke Abbey, the National Trusts "unstately" stately home. It is the perfect location to come and unwind, reflect and learn.
Broadstone Barns is rated a five star property by Visit England. Each of the rooms and living spaces have been purpose built to create the most luxurious accommodation possible, with lots of little touches to really set it apart. It's separated into three "barns", each with it's own patio area and outdoor hot tub.
The venue has three possible accommodation layouts; separate double room, shared room single bed accommodation, or the option of an entire barn to yourself, meaning that we can offer a range of options to fit peoples budgets.
